Handling of Personal Information

Introduction

Canon Components, Inc. (hereinafter referred to as the "Company") recognizes the importance of protecting personal information in the advanced information and communications society, and considers it its important social responsibility to safely and appropriately deal with the personal information of every person who has a relationship with the Company (hereinafter referred to as the "Person"), including its customer and the person in charge of its business partner or service provider.
The Company, as a business operator handling personal information, establishes, implements, maintains and improves a personal information protection management system. The Company handles personal information as stated below and strives to protect such information.

Acquisition of Personal Information and Purpose of Use

In connection with its business activities, the Company may use personal information to the extent necessary to achieve the objectives defined below.

  1. Recruiting
  2. Sales and promotional activities relating to its products and services for corporate users and business partners, and provision of services and support to such parties
  3. Procurement of materials, parts, etc.
  4. Employment management of employees
  5. Safety management
  6. Invitation to and management of events organized by the Company and Canon Group companies

The Company specifies and notifies the purpose(s) of use, such as those defined above, when asking for personal information, and obtains such information under prior consent of the Person.However, explicit disclosure of the purpose of use may be omitted if the purpose of use is clear from the situation in which the information is provided, such as exchanging of business cards as a business practice.

The Company uses the personal information provided by the Person within the scope of the purpose of use specified in advance, and does not use such information for any other purposes without the prior consent of the Person. If the Person does not wish to provide personal information, he or she may refuse to provide it at his or her discretion. Please note that when the Person refuses to provide personal information, the intended purpose may not be achieved.

Purpose of Use and Handling of Specific Personal Information

The Company handles Personal Number and Personal Information Containing Personal Number (hereinafter referred to as "Specific Personal Information" collectively) used in the Act on the Use of Numbers to Identify a Specific Individual in Administrative Procedures as follows.

The Company uses the Specific Personal Information provided to it within the scope of the purpose of use shown below.

Specific Personal Information of business partners:
When dealing with payment records containing information such as on remunerations and fees.
When dealing with payment records containing information on real estate transactions

(2)Provision of Specific Personal Information to Third Parties

The Company does not disclose Specific Personal Information to any third party unless required by laws and regulations, and does not share such information.

(3)Safety Management of Specific Personal Information and Handling Procedures

The sections described later in this document (listed below) are applied to the safety management of Specific Personal Information and the handling procedures, respectively.

Personal Information of Persons Aged 15 Years or Under

Persons who are 15 years old or younger are required to obtain consent from their parents prior to providing personal information to the Company.

Provision of Personal Information to Third parties

The Company does not provide personal information to any third parties except under the following circumstances.

  1. The Person has consented to the provision of personal information (there is proof that indicates consent such as the intention, purpose or method of provision, specific contents to be provided, information on the third party to which personal information is provided, and the agreement of provision).
  2. The provision of personal information is necessary for the preservation of life, body or property, and consent of the Person cannot be easily obtained.
  3. Personal information is provided in connection with the succession of business due to a merger, company split-up, business transfer or other reason.
  4. Personal information is entrusted to Company's business partners or service providers within the scope necessary to fulfill the purpose of use.
  5. Provision is required by law.

Safety Management of Personal Information

In order to prevent unauthorized access, loss, destruction, tampering, leakage, or other damage to personal information, the Company establishes a management system for protecting personal information, and takes physical and technical safety control measures.

Miscellaneous

(1)Protection of Personal Information on Linked Websites

The Company does not assume responsibility for ensuring the security of personal information in any website of a third party linked from the Company's website (hereinafter referred to as "linked websites").
The Person needs to read and understand the privacy policy associated with such linked websites for protecting personal information on such website.

(2)Compliance with Related Laws and Regulations, and Other Rules

The Company will comply with laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, related guidelines established by the Japanese government, and other applicable rules.

(3)Changes to the "Handling of Personal Information" of Canon Components, Inc.

The Company may make updates to this "Handling of Personal Information" of Canon Components, Inc. according to changes in laws and regulations concerning the protection of personal information, related guidelines established by the Japanese government, and other applicable rules.
